How Hard Is Pond Skimming?

After we did that we immediately looked at each other and said, what if we could do this in our backyard pond…. We rushed to the back pond with the same skimboard and go cart and sure enough on the 2nd try Noah was up and skimming at super high speeds!  It was absolutely insane to watch a 13 year old take a running start and hit the board just right and have a car pull him across the pond on what seemed like smooth glass!  We were super excited…

How Hard is Pond Skimming?  Let’s just put it this way, multiple athletes have come over to try pond skimming but each of them failed.  There is definitely an art to floating on water…. Not to mention that it can be intimidating...

Fast forward 2 years to June 18, 2024, Noah now 15, has been successfully pond skimming for 2 years now and Jude his younger brother who is now 13 years old, has been off/on trying to pond skim for the last 2 years without success.  Jude who is now the age of Noah when he started skimming, is finally giving it another shot…. This has been something he has wanted to do for some time but he was a little too young.  This past weekend we took 30 attempts at it with all fails but on this day, after 13 tries, Jude was up and skimming!  I could see from behind the camera that he was getting closer and closer to hitting the board and skimming.  I kept telling him to make the adjustments but no-one can really tell you or show you what to do, you have to just do it…

It was so cool to see him accomplish a goal he has been working toward for 2 years!  

This is definitely a day he will remember the rest of his life!
